Iconic Images of Iconic Artists
Janet came to us with an idea to design and produce a limited edition run of 2021 calendars featuring some of her favorite shots of music legends.
Janet Macoska has cultivated a reputation as one of the world’s premier live music photographers. Her work has been on display at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, The Grammy Museum, and several other exhibitions around the world.
While she had been selling her own prints for some time, but wanted to give her fans the opportunity to purchase a new product in time for the holiday gift giving season.
After a year without live music, this was the perfect time to look back on some of the most legendary acts she’s had the opportunity to capture.
While Janet had licensed her images to a local concert venue and casino to produce giveaway calendars several years ago, she had never taken on a project of this magnitude herself and needed help executing design, production, and order fulfillment. That’s where we came in.
The Final Product
The 12×12 wall calendar showcases some of the most legendary artists of our time.
Featured artists include David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Slash, and many others, captured at shows spanning over four decades.
Each spread is also loaded with some cool items from the Janet’s collection of personal memorabilia collected at these shows, including backstage passes, guitar picks, and more.
The 28-page project also includes a special section highlighting a Macoska print given to David Bowie (which hung in his Switzerland home for many years), along with a hand-written note from the artist himself thanking Janet, along with a backstage photo of the two together.
Full-Circle Cleveland Connection
A special connection – the artist hails from right here in Cleveland, Ohio (this is “The Birthplace of Rock & Roll”, after all!)
As you may know, our headquarters is just blocks from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame & Museum, so this was quite the fitting project.
Janet shot each of these shows at venues right here in Cleveland, and many of these artists have a distinct Cleveland connection (Bowie’s first show in the US was right here, for instance.)
We were proud to help bring the artist’s vision to life with the design and production of the 2021 calendar.
The artist was cool enough to hand-sign the first 500 calendars sold.
